The Author is the Executive Director of the Global Environment Centre Foundation in Osaka, Japan

The Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC) was established on January 28, 1992 with funds of Osaka Prefectural Government and Osaka Municipal Government, being permitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Environment Agency of Japan.

The Global Environment Centre Foundation supports the Osaka Office of the UNEP - International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC), which is dedicated to transfer of environmentally sound technologies for the management of big cities to developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

The Global Environment Centre Foundation collects and provides information of Japanese environmentally sound technologies to developing countries. GEC also introduces environmental information from other countries to Japan and promotes public awareness of the global environmental issues.
